Frequently Asked Questions
Does FundZi charge any fees?
Yes, a small processing fee is added on top of each contribution. For example, if you give KES 500, you pay KES 520 and the organiser receives the full KES 500. Creating and sharing a fundraiser is always free.
Will FundZi find donors or promote my fundraiser for me?
No. FundZi gives you the tools to collect and track contributions. Growing your fundraiser is done by you, by sharing your link with people in your own network. We don't list, advertise, or seek donors for individual fundraisers.
How do contributors send money?
Simple. They open the fundraiser link, enter their name and amount, and request an M-Pesa prompt. A PIN request appears on their phone, they enter their PIN, and the contribution goes through. FundZi records it automatically. M-Pesa payments work on Safaricom numbers only.
Who holds the money?
Contributions are held securely by Paystack, our licensed payment partner, on behalf of FundZi until they are withdrawn to you. You choose when: on request, or at the end of each day as a bulk payout to your chosen M-Pesa number, Till, or Paybill. Withdrawals due on a Sunday or public holiday roll over to the next payout cycle. Every contribution shows on your fundraiser page within a few seconds, and you always receive the full amount contributed.
How can I record cash or offline payments?
As the organiser, you can manually record any contribution that was made outside FundZi whether it's cash in hand or a direct M-Pesa transfer someone sent to you personally. Just go to your admin dashboard and tap "Record Cash Contribution". It will be added to your fundraiser totals and visible to all contributors like any other contribution.
Is contribution tracking transparent?
Yes. Every contribution is recorded and shows on the fundraiser page within a few seconds. No one has to wonder how much has been raised or who has contributed.
Can I run more than one fundraiser?
Yes. Sign in to your dashboard and tap "Add another fundraiser." No need to create a second account. Each one gets its own page, link, and contribution tracking.
Which phones can contribute?
Right now, contributions are paid with M-Pesa, so the contributor needs a Safaricom number. Other networks are not supported yet.
What is a pledge?
A pledge is a promise to give later. Nothing is charged when you pledge. When you are ready, open the fundraiser, tap Pledge Now, then Fulfill a pledge to pay it.
