Frequently Asked Questions
Does FundZi charge any fees?
Creating a fundraiser is free. Each contribution has a small fee added on top, and you see the exact total before you confirm. The organiser receives the full amount given. For example, give Ksh 500 and pay Ksh 520. Card gifts carry a slightly higher fee than M-Pesa, and the exact total is always shown before you pay.
How do people contribute?
They open your link, enter their name and amount, then choose M-Pesa or card. With M-Pesa they enter their number and approve the prompt on their phone with their PIN (Safaricom numbers only). With a card they enter their email and pay on a secure Paystack window.
Can people give by card?
Yes, with a Kenyan-issued Visa or Mastercard, from Ksh 500 to Ksh 50,000 per gift. Card details are entered on Paystack's secure window and never touch FundZi. Cards issued outside Kenya are not accepted yet.
Who receives the money, and when?
The organiser. Contributions are held securely by Paystack and withdrawn to the M-Pesa number, Till or Paybill they chose, on request or at the end of each day. Sundays and holidays roll over. Card gifts become available to withdraw about three working days after they are given.
What is a pledge?
A promise to give later. Nothing is charged when you pledge. When you are ready, open the fundraiser, tap Pledge, then Complete a pledge.
How do I record cash contributions?
Open your admin dashboard and tap “Record Cash Contribution”. It is added to the total like any other contribution.
Can everyone see the progress?
Yes. Every contribution shows on the fundraiser page within seconds, so nobody has to wonder how much has been raised or who has given.
Can I run more than one fundraiser?
Yes. Tap “Add another fundraiser” in your dashboard. Each one gets its own page and link, with no second account needed.
Will FundZi find donors for me?
No. You share your link with your own network. We don't list, advertise or seek donors for individual fundraisers.
